FY 2021 P-EBT Local Level Administrative Cost Grant Awards
Under Section 4601 of the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021 and Other Extensions Act, the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is providing funds to extend new FY 2021 P-EBT Local Level Administrative Cost Grant Awards to Child Nutrition (CN) State agencies with the purpose of reimbursing School Food Authorities (SFA) for administrative costs incurred in support of P-EBT.
NYSED Announces the Availability of the 2022 Summer Food Service Program
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) encourages public and nonpublic nonprofit school food authorities; local, county, municipal, and state governmental entities; Indian tribal territories, migrant programs; nonprofit agencies; faith-based organizations and camps interested in providing healthy meals to children this summer to participate in the United State Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
And Justice for All Posters
The USDA “And Justice for All” poster must be on display in all buildings where Child Nutrition Programs are in operation. To obtain “And Justice for All” posters, please complete the Resource Order Form.

Free Signage Resources for SFA’s
The Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 201, 7 CFR 210.10(a)(2) requires the schools identify, near or at the beginning of the serving lines, what foods constitute a unit priced reimbursable meal.
The Child Nutrition Program Administration has materials available, free of charge, to ensure School Food Authorities (SFA’s) are complying with this signage requirement.
Providing School Meals to Students Learning Remotely in SY 2021-2022
With election of applicable waivers, current USDA flexibilities allow school food authorities (SFAs) the option to provide students learning remotely with access to meals on school days during the 2021-2022 School Year.

Waives the requirement for meals to be served and consumed by students at school and allows meals to be provided outside of school.

Recall: Whole, Fresh Onions Grown in Mexico
The purpose of this memorandum is to notify School Food Authorities (SFAs) that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of whole, fresh, red, white, and yellow onions, grown in Mexico, due to potential contamination of Salmonella Oranienburg.
Student Eligibility Carryover in the 2021-2022 SY
This memorandum provides School Food Authorities (SFAs) participating in the federal Child Nutrition Programs with clarification regarding student eligibility carryover in the 2021-2022 School Year (SY).
Additional clarification regarding eligibility carryover for the 2022-2023 SY is forthcoming from USDA and will be posted to the Child Nutrition Knowledge Center (CNKC) when received.

Breakfast

Schools that receive regular reimbursement for breakfast must charge a minimum of $2.08 plus tax for an adult breakfast meal.

Schools that receive severe need reimbursement for breakfast must charge a minimum of $2.46 plus tax for an adult breakfast meal.
Lunch

Schools that receive under 60% ($3.7199) for lunch must charge a minimum of $4.12 plus tax for an adult lunch.
School Year Calendars- Non-public SFAs Only
All non-public School Food Authorities (SFAs) are required to submit their established school year calendar by Recipient Agency (RA) to the Child Nutrition Program Administration office (CN) each school year. Residential Childcare Institutions (RCCI) and Jails are exempt from this process.
The 2022-2023 school year runs from July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023. Calendars for the 2022-2023 school year must be submitted via email to cn@nysed.gov by September 30, 2022.
